Holidays: Holidays are always special for us and spending time with family.

Skye loves to cook so Thanksgiving is always an event filled with family, food, football and laughter at Chris' parents’ house in northern Wisconsin. Our tradition for the day after Thanksgiving is to meet up with family at the town festival in Boulder Junction; then we shop, snack on cookies, watch carolers and wait for Santa to parade through town on a fire engine. Christmas is spent with family as well. All of Chris' siblings take turns hosting Christmas Eve, and Grandma and Grandpa organize games for all the grandkids followed by a delicious meal and gift exchange. Birthdays are important to us and we celebrate with special meals and family activities which have included waterparks, basketball games and parties.

Vacations: We love family road trips and take mini-adventures on weekends to explore nearby cities, towns and lakes.

Other: We love spending time at our Northwoods lake cottage; enjoying year-round activities including snowmobiling, sledding, fishing, kayaking and hiking. Our family hobbies include: music, art, sports, traveling, animals, trying new things and going on adventures!

Dear BirthParent(s),

We are Chris and Skye and our family motto is:  “Home is wherever family is.”

We have a 10 year old, Alec (Skye’s biological son) and our family also includes our yellow labs – Grover and Leia.  The best times are when we are all together; whether we are on a road trip, at a ballgame, up north at our cottage on the lake or going on mini-adventures. We live an active lifestyle and believe life is an adventure to be enjoyed!

Our family is special in that we were both widowed; each of us having lost our first spouse to cancer.  We both wanted to have families with multiple children until circumstances changed everything.  After becoming widowed, we felt lost and tried out a young widow’s support group where we met and had an instant connection. After the relationship blossomed, we were married off the coast of Oregon and became a family. We have been blessed in finding one another and the shared experience has taught us how precious life is and to truly appreciate each and every day.

Our greatest wish is to be parents again and Alec is eager to become a big brother.  He has flourished with his new family; doing well in school, learning to play bass in the orchestra, and playing on his basketball team  while Leia and Grover simply adore all children! Our baby room is ready and we can’t wait to have a little one to love and cherish.

Chris is a product manager for Harley-Davidson where he has worked for 12 years.  He loves playing and watching sports, enjoying the outdoors, playing video games online with friends, and most of all being a dad.  He helps coach Alec’s basketball team and has spent this past summer introducing him to golf.  Skye is a creative and gifted artist teaching classes part-time at a paint-your-own pottery studio as well as volunteering in the school with art presentations. She encourages Alec’s love of reading and music and they spend time together playing games and being silly.

We have tremendous respect for the birth parent(s) that choose adoption. It takes such great courage, strength and love to make this choice and we will be forever grateful and honored to be blessed with the gift of becoming parents again. We fully support an open adoption with a level of contact that is comfortable for everyone.

Thank you for reading our letter and we can’t wait to meet you!
