Since 1974, LSS Refugee has been helping people lawfully and permanently admitted to the US after having fled unspeakable violence and war.

Some have fled to refugee camps and meager surroundings in Thailand and Kakuma Camp in Kenya; others fled to urban areas in Malaysia, Jordan, Rwanda and more.

All had no future or hope until the opportunity for resettlement was offered to a precious few. We continue that welcome and now prepare for yet another wave of people fleeing yet another war. LSS’ work is a mandate for humanitarian action. Your support now helps us be ready for when people come to us.

Form a Co-Sponsor Team

Your support today will allow LSS to create belonging and empower independence for individuals and families who were forced to flee their homeland because of war and persecution.

The more dollars we raise the more people LSS can serve. Please click the donate button on this page to make an online gift or text LSSREFUGEE to 41444 using your mobile phone. We also need Co-Sponsor groups, in-kind donations and volunteers

Gifts shared by our partner churches and other community groups help refugees start their new lives in our communities.

Co-sponsor groups walk side-by-side with each individual or family for six-to-twelve months as they build skill, confidence and independence. Groups serve as cultural navigators – helping refugees acclimate to their new home. They also take an active role in securing apartments or homes and provide funding for essential needs (e.g., household supplies, transportation, etc.) as they build self-sufficiency.

Beginning April 19, one-hour Co-Sponsor Information meetings will be held via Zoom every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. CST. If your organization is interested in co-sponsorship or need the Zoom link for the meetings, please contact Sarah at church.relations@lsswis.org.

Become a Volunteer

Volunteers provide that extra helping hand and support that really makes a difference in helping people learn needed skills and improve their English. They also help refugees step out in their communities and experience things like farmers markets, museums, zoos and parks, etc.

LSS Refugee Resettlement holds Volunteer Information Sessions the 1st Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. CST via Zoom.  This one-hour session will give an overview of the refugee process to Milwaukee and how a volunteer can help refugees so they get the best start possible in their new home. please contact Sarah at church.relations@lsswis.org for the Zoom link
