Youth Residential

LSS has a long, rich history of serving the at-risk youth of Wisconsin through youth residential treatment centers featuring various programs that meet the needs of youth through residential treatment, including counseling and education. A team of professional therapists, case manager, teaching personnel and staff provide services, from an array of reputable and proven programs, offer services that help children and troubled youth thrive.

Our youth residential treatment program treats all individuals in our care with dignity. Our goal is to bring stability, engagement and connections for youth in our programs, so they can live their best lives possible and be assets to the community.

Where Youth Change Their Lives

The Homme Youth & Family Programs is our flagship program, originally opening in 1882 when Pastor E.J. Homme opened a home for orphaned children in Wittenberg, Wisconsin. These deep roots of care have served as the root of all our services for the past 100 years.

Today, Homme’s residential treatment center continues to welcome and serve male youth and adolescents who are traumatized and struggling and are in danger of developing even more serious issues. We welcome them with care, compassion and a promise to help them change their lives, and treat all troubled youth who walk through our doors as infinitely valuable individuals.

Our nationally known treatment program serves children and adolescents dealing with issues of sexual perpetration, delinquency, victimization, alcohol and drug abuse, cognitive behavioral issues or dual diagnosis, and independent living support.

The Homme residential treatment center campus rests on more than 200 acres of woods, hills, streams and ponds in Wittenberg, which is located in Shawano County in central Wisconsin. Here, we value family involvement and offer on-campus housing and transportation assistance for family visits.

The admissions process begins with a referral and a pre-placement interview which is essential to determining how an individualized treatment program can meet the needs of each youth.

Our treatment approach, combined with our peaceful campus, helps children and their families regain control of their lives and begin to recover from the traumas and troubles of the past. We know there’s a way to reach every youth in our care, no matter how many protective walls they build around their thoughts and emotions. Our highly trained staff members have the empathy and patience to find the irresistible invitation that will help each child open up, start communicating and begin to trust, leading to hope and healing.
