Benefits Eligible Offerings

The benefits below are offered to colleagues who are scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more and are effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment.

To ensure that you have the choice to enroll in a health plan that works best for your individual situation, LSS offers three comprehensive Health plans to choose including a PPO and High Deductible options. The plans are designed with different annual deductible and co-insurance options.

To ensure that you have the choice to enroll in a dental plan that works best for your individual situation, LSS offers three dental plan designs from which to choose.

Eligible colleagues have three vision plan designs from which to choose from with various co-pays and benefit levels based on individual needs.

LSS provides basic life insurance coverage equal to your annual salary. Additionally, supplemental life and accidental death and dismemberment is available to purchase for you and your eligible dependents.

LSS provides short-term disability (STD) and long-term disability (LTD), with a benefit that pays 60% of salary.

Colleagues may enroll in pre-tax dependent and/or health flexible spending accounts in accordance with IRS Annual Contribution Limits.

Colleagues who elect a High-Deductible Health Plan may enroll in the Health Savings Account (HSA) which provides an employer contribution and allows colleagues to save additional pre-tax dollars.

Allstate Identity Protection AIP offers identity and cyber protection services.

Accident Insurance will pay a cash benefit to use for anything else an injury might require such as emergency treatment, hospital stays, and transportation and lodging needs, among others.

Critical Illness Insurance pays cash benefit if diagnosed with a covered illness or disease.

Hospital indemnity provides a benefit for eligible hospital confinements and assists with offsetting costs.

403(b) plan – Offered through Voya Financial

Lutheran Social Services (LSS) offers colleagues a 403(b) retirement plan administered by Voya Financial and provides an employer match for those contributing. Financial planning and/or counseling services are also offered to colleagues.

    At Lutheran Social Services (LSS), we believe in work-life balance and provide flexibility when possible. In addition, we make sure our colleagues are provided with plenty of time off. Depending on scheduled hours worked, you may be eligible for paid holidays, paid vacation, personal holidays, or paid time off (PTO). Eligible colleagues have no waiting period for paid time off accruals or holidays.

  • Paid holidays

    You are eligible for paid holidays on the date of hire if you have a benefit-eligible position (at least 40 hours per week or 30 to 39 hours per week). We offer ten designated paid holidays. Paid holidays include New Years Day, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Day, Easter Sunday/Good Friday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

  • Personal holidays

    You are eligible for personal holidays on your date of hire. If you work at least 40 hours per week, you will receive 2 personal holidays per year. If you work 30 to 39 hours per week, you will receive 1 day per year.

  • Paid vacation / Paid Time Off (PTO) / Sick Time

    Colleagues who are scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week are provided separate accrual banks for vacation and sick time. Accruals begin immediately and are based on hours worked, years of service, hours worked, and FLSA status.

    Colleagues scheduled to work 20-29 hours per week are eligible for paid time off (PTO). Accruals begin immediately and are based on years of service.

Employee Assistance Program

Lutheran Social Services partners with The Standard to provide an employee assistance program (EAP) for our colleagues and their qualifying family members. EAP services are confidential and include assistance with mental health, relationships, addiction recovery, stress, financial concerns, will preparation, identity theft and fraud, etc.

Summer / Public Student Loan Forgiveness

LSS is a qualifying employer under the Federal Public Student Loan Forgiveness Program. We partner with Summer to provide custom student loan and Public Student Loan Forgiveness navigation services to assist you and your children with picking the right loan repayment plan.

Calm Wellness App

The Calm App with premium access is available to all colleagues and is shareable with up to five of your dependents to assist you with lower stress, anxiety, improving focus and more restful sleep.

UKG Wallet

UKG Wallet has partnered with LSS to bring colleagues a digital wallet built for every day life which include early earned wage access which allows you to take advances on your earned wages giving you more control over when and how you use that money. Participation is optional and it’s free to join.
