LSS Brings Supportive Services to New Affordable Housing Project
VERONA, Wis. — A new affordable housing development is set to bring 60 units to Verona, Wisconsin, with a dedicated focus on residents with disabilities.
The Argus Apartments, to be built in Dane County, will offer affordable housing for families and reserve nine units specifically for individuals living with developmental, physical, and/or mental disabilities. Those nine units will be designated as Permanent Supportive Housing, meaning residents will have access to on-site wraparound services designed to help them maintain stable, long-term housing.
Lutheran Social Services (LSS) will provide those on-site services, bringing more than 140 years of experience in social services to the project. The organization currently serves tens of thousands of people across Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, and its involvement in the Argus Apartments reflects its broader mission of delivering compassionate, life-stage support to vulnerable populations.
The development is being led by a trio of developers — Northpointe Development II Corporation, Selassie Development, and Cordon Development — and is being financed through Cinnaire’s Fund for Housing Limited Partnership 45 (Fund 45), a $307 million Low-Income Housing Tax Credit equity fund announced this week.
For Verona and the broader Dane County area, the Argus Apartments represents a tangible response to a growing affordable housing shortage. Housing costs across Wisconsin, as in much of the country, have increasingly outpaced wages, leaving many families and individuals with disabilities with few stable options.
No timeline for construction or an opening date has been publicly announced.
