Tyler Fech has accomplished a lot in his 18 years. With the help of Connections, an IRIS consultant agency created by LSS, he lives a fuller life than many others his age. Tyler has Down syndrome and autism and is nonverbal. He also attends Cudahy High School, works in the school office, and is involved in Special Olympics and People First of Wisconsin, an advocacy organization run by and for people who have disabilities. He volunteers, too, packing lunches for seniors and serving at his church.
LSS created Connections to help Tyler and other adults who have disabilities choose and direct their own long-term supports. With the support of Connections, Tyler makes his own choices when selecting caregivers, transportation providers and the community programs in which he likes to participate.
Tyler also has a family tie to Connections – his dad, Kevin Fech, is the Connections team manager.
“I feel that LSS, Connections and IRIS are a perfect match, and that’s why I choose to work here,” said Kevin.
Kevin and his wife Angie hope for Tyler to continue to work, contribute to his community and live the best life possible – all with the help of Connections.
