Family Traditions

Holidays:  Holidays wouldn’t be the same without family. We try to spend every holiday with family, from New Years Eve to Christmas Day; we welcome family members into our home as well as travel locally to gather together.

Some of our many traditions include:

  • trick or treating with our nieces and nephews
  • baking and frosting cut out cookies for just about every holiday
  • coloring easter eggs and having an egg hunt in our backyard
  • watching the annual Christmas Parade in our city
  • having birthday cake with all our nieces, nephews and cousins to celebrate birthday
  • watching the Fourth of July fireworks over the lake at the family cabin

Vacations: For the past several years, we have been fortunate to vacation in the Outer Banks of North Carolina with the Miller family. This vacation has truly been a blessing, as we spend lots of time on the beach, poolside and exploring the East Coast together as a family. We also like to travel to see Stacy’s family in the Upper Peninsula and stay at their lake home with all her siblings and their children. Here, we go for boat rides, make smores, swim for hours and enjoy all the great company.

Family Gatherings: We love to gather together often for life’s big celebrations (birthdays, holidays, graduations, birth of new family members) but also just because. Stacy’s sister and her family live 20 minutes away from our home and get together with us often. Steve’s family visits about every other weekend. Our child will have four aunts, three uncles, five cousins,  two sets of grandparents and so many others  that are waiting to make wonderful memories with them!

Birth Parent Letter

Dear Birth Family,

We are Stacy and Steve and are thankful that you are reading this today. We realize that you are facing an extremely difficult decision, selecting the best possible family for your child, hoping for a life filled with love, happiness and many great memories. We’d like to take the time to show you a glimpse of our lives and the love that we would like to share with our future child.

We met each other almost 12 years ago in marching band. We quickly knew that we wanted to spend our lives together, and were married on August 8, 2009. We were led to pursue adoption with LSS after struggling with infertility for several years and really embracing that a family is love deep and doesn’t need to be blood related. We are excited and anxious to build our family through adoption. We would like to remain in contact with you, as we’d like for our child to know their story and to see how much their family cares for them, from the very start of bringing them into this world. We will strive to make sure our child knows how much they are loved by you and the selflessness you displayed as you found them their forever family.

Steve is a social worker and works with at-risk children, working with their families to better their lives and to create a positive action plan for their future. In his free time you can find Steve cheering on the Capitals hockey team, working on projects around the house or playing his guitar. Steve will be a great dad, as he’s calm, caring and so helpful. The way he cares for our nieces and nephews shows his compassion for children. Stacy is third grade teacher at a nearby elementary school.  While not at school, Stacy enjoys making craft projects, spending time with her sister and her nieces and nephews or being outside gardening. Stacy will be a great mom, because of the love and passion that she has for children, not only in the classroom, but in the community and our family, as well.  Stacy wears her heart on her sleeve and will do anything to make sure your child feels they are loved.

We realize that the decision you are making is one of the greatest challenges you may face. Please know that we will strive to provide a nurturing, compassionate and loving home if selected.. We wish you all the best as you decide on the appropriate placement for your child. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us.

With many thanks,

Steve and Stacy
