Family Traditions

Easter: Brad’s family hides eggs outside along with their baskets and makes the level of difficulty based on the age of the kiddos. So we have lots of fun for with the teenage nieces & nephews.  They get to participate until they graduate high school. Tricia’s family does a similar egg hunt for the kids which makes it even better.  Two days in a row of Easter fun!!  As a family we talk about what Easter is about and do our own fun, dying Easter eggs, hiding them and making special candy. A very fun holiday for us all!

Memorial Weekend: Cookouts with family, baseball games & craft shows is what we try to take in this weekend.

July 4th:  Our son, Bradyn, was born on July 4th, so we usually do extra fun activities around this holiday. We typically attend dirt track races on one night, a car & craft show another day, parade on July 4th and last year an air show. Very fun, very exhausting, great memories!

Labor Day Weekend: Minnesota State Fair is required this weekend!  We spend one full day of the weekend at the fair walking several miles, eating a lot of yummy food, watching dog shows, shopping and riding the GIANT Slide several times!  Typically Brad needs to prove his awesome skills on the carnival games and wins a larger-than-life stuffed animal that we have no room for at home. Haha!

Halloween: Trunk or Treat is the annual Halloween contest and candy giveaway at Harvestime Church.  The contest is for the best decorated vehicle trunk along with the most creatively dressed staff with each trunk. The staff is the vehicle owner(s) and/or family which dress up in various costumes that match their trunk!  It is SO much FUN!  The kids love to trick or treat from Trunk to Trunk and the church loves providing a safe environment for kiddos and parents on Halloween. The church also offers hot cocoa, coffee, chips and hotdogs for guests as well. We have featured a Drive In Movie Trunk playing Disney's Cars and gave away candy you would find at a Drive in. Last year we featured a Barbie Trunk which was so girly and so fun for me!  This year Bradyn will be picking the theme in fall.  So far Star Wars, Minions & Ninja Turtles are on the top of his list.

Thanksgiving: The day is started by Tricia walking in the Turkey Trot while Brad & Bradyn come to cheer me on!  From there we eat a good breakfast and go serve at a men’s shelter that serves meals for families in our town that are in need.  Once we are done with our serving, we go home to look through the numerous ads for Black Friday and put together a plan of attack for sales. Believe it or not, Brad is the great hunter of sales and has the patience to get in line….stay in line and get the items we want. Tricia would rather stay at home baking or sleeping depending on the time.  lol

Black Friday night: Our four younger nieces & nephews come over to spend the night with Bradyn and we have a blast with them.  We typically put up a Christmas tree, decorate the house and eat amazing food/treats. Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend is when we host Tricia’s family for thanksgiving and have a traditional dinner with them. We break out our fancy china and make it a more formal look.  After we eat, we take a long walk in our neighborhood so we can eat dessert.

Christmas: We spend both the 24th & 25th attending Christmas parties on both side of the family along with waking up Christmas morning at our house to presents from Santa. The kids play till they drop, love present time and enjoy the special Christmas cookies.  The most fun about Christmas is that we are all together. The parties are so fun.

We don’t have a family tradition when it comes to vacations…we try to make the holidays our family tradition and then be open to mini vacations throughout the year.  Our plan is to do a “big” vacation where we actually are gone for a week or two every three years. Last year we drove to Orange Beach, Alabama where Brad’s mom was staying in a condo. On the way there we stopped at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY and on the way home stopped at the Louisville Slugger Museum in Louisville, KY.  We all loved both places and really enjoyed the hotels we stayed in. Nice warm pools!  In Orange Beach, Bradyn enjoyed the ocean for the very first time!  He built sand castles, walked in the water and helped Grandma collect sea shells.  We toured the city, played at a family entertainment center, shopped some local shops and ate at the famous Lambert’s Restaurant. (Home of the throwed rolls)  Best home cooking I have had at a restaurant to date!!

On our list next is Lego Land in California along with Disney Land…Bradyn will be so pumped when we actually book that vacation.

Family Gatherings

We try to get together with our family as much as we can but we are all very busy with our kiddos.  That said, we all attend the same church so we see each other in passing weekly and get together many times spur of the moment for lunch or a fun activity or anytime there is a Packer game is a good excuse!

Other: Brad, Bradyn & I make sure to spend time the three of us playing together!  We believe that is very important in our family.  Whether roller skating, playing laser tag, mini golf or video games we like to have fun.  Sometimes we just run around the house playing hide & seek.  Whatever we feel like for that day is great!

Community: Rural

Years lived here: We built our house almost 5 years ago but have lived in our town for 18 years

Community/Neighborhood: Our development offers minimum lot sizes of 1.5 acres each so there is a lot of room to run and play.  We have a lot of families in our neighborhood as well which is so evident as several families walk or ride bike together at night.

Other: We have a 4-bedroom home with 2 full bathrooms so we have plenty of space to fill.

Hello -

We are SO EXCITED you are reviewing our resume for the adoption of your child!  It is both an honor and a privilege for us.  Our Life Book will give you much more insight to our warm and outgoing personalities, but we will share as much as we can now.

To begin with, our names are Brad & Tricia and this is our son Bradyn.  Our other “kids” in the picture are Paris & Phoebe, our miniature dachshunds.  We also have a cat at home named Garfield who is just like the cat from the comic strip.  He eats and sleeps ALL the time!  Paris loves to give kisses and Phoebe loves to play fetch all day long.  We love our little family!

We were married in 1996 and had the opportunity to work side by side for 15 years as business owners.  Brad, an Event Planner & Entertainer and Tricia, a Photographer & Office Manager.  When our son, Bradyn, was born in 2011, our priorities changed.  We found it hard to be gone so many weekends from Bradyn.  We were very fortunate that Grandparents were eager to help but it still made it hard for us.  In 2015 we made the tough decision to retire our business and find a career that would allow us more flexibility as a family.

Brad is in Sales and Tricia is an HR Recruiter.  Both of our jobs allow us to work from home 80% of the time.  It has been such a blessing to have so much more family time.  We have family meal times everyday, walk or ride bike 4-5 days a week depending on the weather and love to work on projects around the house together.  Bradyn is such a great helper!  Our favorite hobbies are mini golf, laser tag, playing any sport or board game, but our favorite is football.  GO Pack GO!  We love to have fun, joke all the time and give lots of hugs!  Laughter is the best medicine in our family.  We encourage each other in our weaknesses and work in our strengths.  It is our goal to build a strong, loving and genuine family.

Brad & I chose adoption to build our family as we struggled with infertility. After a few miscarriages and prayer, we realized that family is not determined by sharing the same DNA but rather it is based on love, selflessness and sacrifice. God has a plan for building our family and it has been an emotional and amazing journey so far.

When we were chosen by birthparents in the  adoption of our son Bradyn, we couldn’t express our joy enough. We cried so much in the first year as we felt so blessed with our son. We have seen how adoption blesses not only the adoptive parents, but also the baby as well as the birthparents.  We are so proud of our birthparents for making such an incredibly selfless decision by choosing adoption for their unborn baby and giving Bradyn an opportunity to grow and thrive in a family with several cousins to play with.  It has been amazing to see our birth parents grow, finish college and start families of their own now that the timing is right for them.  We are so blessed to have such great friendships with them and we will treasure them always!  They are a special part of our extended family.

We are excited and eager to add to our little family.  Bradyn will make an excellent big brother as he is very gentle and kind to his younger cousins and friends.  He longs to have siblings to play with.  We pray together for God to bless us with a baby or two and trust God is directing our next birth parents to us when the time is right.  We hope you review our Life Book and thank you so much for considering us for your baby.  God bless you!

With love and respect -

Brad & Tricia
