Scripture: “Keep on loving one another as Christian brothers and sisters. Remember to welcome strangers in your homes. There were some who did that and welcomed angels without knowing it.” (Hebrews 13:1-2)
Reflection: The following was written above the entrance to a retreat center: “Hail Guest, we ask not who you are; if friend, we greet you hand and heart; if stranger, be such no longer; if foe, may you surrender to our love.” Such a welcome fits well with what we do at LSS. Many who come to us see themselves as strangers, not really fitting in. Some see themselves as foes, not really wanting to participate. But, we offer hospitality, respect, and reverence to all in the hopes that they may leave as friends.
Prayer: We pray to a God whose hospitality exceeds all that we can imagine. All around us, we see the human causalities of a lack of hospitality. Help us to drink deeply of your hospitality, that me might become hospitable to others.
