Reflection for the Week of March 10, 2008

Scripture:

“Yes, may you come to know his (Christ’s) love, although it can never be fully known, and so be completely filled with the very nature of God.”  (Ephesians 3:19)

Reflection:

Recently, I officiated at the funeral of a woman who was a 104 years old.  I was humbled to think of all those years of experience, learning, insight, and wisdom.

And yet, our faith tells us that even 104 years is not long enough to know the fullness of Christ’s love.  We need the timelessness of an eternity in God’s presence to fully know and experience love’s treasures.

Prayer:

Timeless God, in our fears and uncertainties, we yearn to believe that one life time is not enough to experience love’s treasures.  We are deeply comforted and motivated by the promise of a future filled with discovering love’s treasures.
