| Reflection for the Week of

Scripture: “So call your fellow Israelites ‘God’s People’ and ‘Loved-by-the-Lord.’” (Hosea 2:1) Reflection: One of my seminary professors used to say that the average pastor had about seven sermons, and that he/she spent the rest of their lives doing variations on them. I used to worry that people would become bored by what I had to say, but my contacts with 12-Step Groups cured me of that, because they say and do the same things week after week. They taught me that in matters of the heart, we need to hear the same messages again and again, before they take life within us. Prayer: God of love, we never get bored hearing that our name is “Loved-by-the-Lord”. May that name overcome all the other names we have been called. We thank you for the opportunity to tell others that their real name, their God given name, is “Loved-by-the-Lord”.
