| Reflection for the Week of January 21, 2008 |

Scripture: “Those who live as their human nature tells them to live, have their minds controlled by what human nature wants. Those who live as the Spirit tells them to, have their minds controlled by what the Spirit wants.” (Romans: 8:5)
Reflection: In 1963 Martin Luther King Jr. said, “In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrong deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever struggle on the high plain of dignity and discipline. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul (spiritual) force.” He was truly a person who demonstrated a mind controlled by the spirit of God.
Prayer: God of justice, we are thankful for all your saints who have lived before us and demonstrated minds controlled by your spirit. Free us from the bonds of fear, bitterness, and hatred. Give us a small measure of your soul force, so that we in our own ways, can demonstrate a mind controlled by the Spirit.
