Scripture: “So then, my brothers and sisters, because of God’s great mercy to us I appeal to you: Offer yourself as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to him. This is the true worship you should offer.” (Romans 12:1) Reflection: The word, worship, comes from an old Saxon word, “worthship”, which means to acknowledge the worth or value of a person or thing. Thus, when we worship God, we acknowledge the one who is greater than we, and that he/she is of utmost value in understanding and organizing our lives. True worship involves a life committed to conversation with God and service to God. Prayer: We pray to you who are of worth and value. Sometimes, we believe that worship is another burden to bear or another task to accomplish. Help us to trust that all of our conversations with you, and all of our service motivated by you, are worship.
