Scripture: “’I am the Lord’s servant,’ said Mary; may it happen to me as you have said….” (Luke 1:38)
Reflection: A package of socks I bought at a discount store was labeled “Slightly Imperfect”. That is a good description of us as well, slightly imperfect. Mary probably felt that way when Gabriel said that God had a special assignment for her. And yet, she says, “I am the Lord’s servant, do what you will.” When we let God do what God wills, God takes up residency within us, and uses us to be a blessing to others.
Prayer: God of compassion: We pray that you might give us some of the spirit of Mary, so that we can say with her: “I am the Lord’s servant,’ may it happen to me as you have said….”
