Reflection for the Week of April 14, 2008

Scripture:

Jesus said, “Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.”  (Matthew 5:7)

“For judgment will be without mercy to anyone who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.”  James 2:11)

Reflection:

One of my teachers said, “What we don’t know or understand about the Christian way of life is not as important as what we do know and understand, but don’t practice.”

We know and understand that relating to ourselves and others with a heart of mercy and compassion is of most importance.  It is often difficult to practice.  We are blessed to be part of a  ministry which gives us many opportunities to practice mercy.

Prayer:

God of mercy, we are thankful that “mercy triumphs over judgment”.  Fill us with your mercy and compassion, so that we can practice what we know is of most importance.
